By accessing or using Dear POTUS, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to all of these terms, you may not access or use our services.
Service Description
Dear POTUS is a platform that allows citizens to send anonymous letters to the President of the United States. All letters submitted are anonymous and represent the personal opinions and views of the authors, not those of Dear POTUS, its operators, or affiliates.
We do not endorse, support, represent, or guarantee the completeness, truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of any user-submitted letters.
Content Ownership
Users retain ownership of their letters but grant Dear POTUS a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Display, publish, and distribute letters in any format or medium
- Edit, modify, redact, or format letters for publication
- Create derivative works, compilations, or collections of letters
- Use letters for promotional, educational, or research purposes
- Archive, store, and maintain letters indefinitely
- Share letters with government officials, media, or third parties
- Use letters in any commercial or non-commercial context
- Transfer or sublicense these rights to affiliates or partners
This license is granted for the purpose of facilitating public discourse, civic engagement, and democratic participation.
Prohibited Content
Letters must not:
- Contain threats of violence or harm
- Include personal information of others
- Promote illegal activities or violence
- Contain hate speech, harassment, or discrimination
- Impersonate government officials or entities
- Include spam, advertisements, or commercial content
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Content Moderation
We reserve the right to:
- Review and moderate all letters before publication
- Remove letters that violate our guidelines without notice
- Report illegal content to appropriate authorities
- Edit, remove, or refuse to publish any letter for any reason
- Block access to users who repeatedly violate these Terms of Use
- Maintain editorial discretion over all published content
Intellectual Property
By submitting letters to Dear POTUS, users grant Dear POTUS a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use, modify, publicly display, reproduce, and distribute such content for the purpose of facilitating civic discourse and public engagement.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Dear POTUS is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Defects will be corrected
- The service or server is free of viruses or other harmful components
- The information provided on the service is accurate, reliable, or correct
- Letters will be read by government officials
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dear POTUS and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the service, including damages resulting from user-submitted letters or any government response or lack thereof.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Dear POTUS and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the service or your violation of these Terms of Use.
Privacy and Anonymity
While we strive to maintain user anonymity, we cannot guarantee complete anonymity. Users should not include personal identifying information in their letters. We reserve the right to cooperate with law enforcement when required by law.
Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms of Use at any time without notice. By continuing to use Dear POTUS after changes are made, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
