Disclaimer
Please read this before you send a letter. By using DearPOTUS, you agree to the terms below.
What DearPOTUS is
DearPOTUS is an independent civic platform where people can write letters addressed to the President of the United States and publish them on a public wall for others to read. It is a place for substantive opinions, policy concerns, and personal stories — not advertising or noise.
DearPOTUS is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the White House, the Office of the President, or any agency of the United States government.
Letters are not delivered to the President
Publishing a letter on DearPOTUS does not send it to the White House, the President, or any government office. We do not mail, fax, email, or otherwise transmit your letter to anyone in government.
There is no guarantee that the President, White House staff, or any elected official will see, read, or respond to your letter. The only place your letter appears is this public website, subject to our review process.
Review and community standards
Every letter is reviewed before it stays on the wall. We use automated moderation to help enforce our standards. Letters that violate these rules will not be published, including content that:
- Threatens violence or encourages harm against any person or group
- Contains hate speech, slurs, or dehumanizing language
- Includes explicit sexual content or gratuitous graphic violence
- Is spam, advertising, scams, or repetitive low-effort filler
- Shares someone else's private personal information (doxxing)
- Impersonates a government official, the President, or a verified organization
- Is entirely unrelated to civic or political discourse
We may deny publication at our discretion even when a letter does not fit a category above. If a letter is not approved after payment, you will see a brief explanation on the confirmation page. Payment covers the attempt to publish on the wall; we do not guarantee approval.
Your content
You are responsible for what you write. Published letters are visible to the public. Do not include information you are not comfortable sharing openly. We may remove content that violates these standards or applicable law.
No legal or official advice
Nothing on DearPOTUS constitutes legal, immigration, tax, or official government advice. For matters that require a government response, use official channels such as White House contact forms (opens in new tab) or your representatives in Congress.
Changes
We may update this disclaimer as the service evolves. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
