Mr. President,
I’m writing as someone who sees real people hit by your government’s inaction: relief checks for nearly 42 million Americans reliant on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits were delayed or reduced during the longest shutdown in our nation’s history.
Meanwhile, airports across the country are bracing for mounting delays because key federal staff aren’t being paid or supported.
This isn’t just a policy failure – it’s a leadership failure. Families who rely on food aid shouldn’t be bargaining chips in political gridlock, and travelers shouldn’t be facing chaos because of staffing breakdowns you allowed. It’s not “just politics”; it’s people’s lives being disrupted.
You have an obligation to act quickly: reopen the government, ensure full SNAP payments without delay, and restore integrity to our federal services. Anything less is letting down the American people who trusted you.
