Dear Mr. President,
I am outraged by your reckless decision to deploy U.S. troops to Portland, Oregon, to “protect” ICE facilities. This is not leadership — it is authoritarian theater. By framing protesters as “domestic terrorists” and threatening “full force,” you are turning the U.S. military into your personal political weapon.
This is not about public safety. Local officials, including Oregon’s governor, have made it clear that Portland does not need or want your intervention. You ignored them, disregarded federalism, and chose to escalate rather than cooperate. That is executive overreach in its purest form.
You are flirting with illegality. The Posse Comitatus Act exists to stop presidents from using the military against their own people. By deploying troops into a city that is not at war, you are stretching — if not outright breaking — the law. You are setting a dangerous precedent that no president should ever cross.
This move will not calm tensions — it will ignite them. Sending troops into American streets will not restore order. It will create more chaos, fear, and resentment. Your so-called solution risks bloodshed and deepens divisions at a time when this country desperately needs unity.
Most dangerously, you are undermining democracy itself. A president who uses soldiers to silence dissent is betraying the Constitution and the American people. You are treating citizens as enemies rather than as the very people you swore to serve.
Mr. President, rescind this order immediately. Pull back your troops. Respect state authority. Respect the Constitution. Respect the people. Anything less is an act of despotism, and history will remember it that way.
We do not need a commander against us. We need a president for us.
