Dear Mr. President,

I write to you not in anger, but in concern.

When federal agents turn American streets into conflict zones—when neighborhoods see smoke, flashbangs, and the glint of rifles pointed at citizens—it is not strength we witness, but fear. These scenes in Chicago, where even local police were caught in clouds of tear gas meant for protesters, don’t make our nation safer. They make us smaller.

America should never feel like it’s at war with itself. Federal power is a solemn responsibility, not a hammer to prove resolve. Our democracy depends on trust—trust that those sworn to protect us know the difference between keeping the peace and provoking fear.

Mr. President, you have the chance to turn this moment around. To show that leadership isn’t measured in force, but in wisdom. To remind the country that strength can look like restraint, and that unity will always be mightier than intimidation.

We don’t need more scenes of chaos on our own soil. We need calm. Accountability. And hope that we can rise above this cycle of fear before it defines us.

Respectfully,

A Concerned American
